What’s your career pathway been like? How did you get to where you are now?

I just completed 28 years of service in this field.  May 1995 as a newbie I started my career with MetLife. In January 2015, I moved to New York Life to continue learning and building my business. In October 2013, I landed on National Life and next month I will complete my 10th year here. One client at a time, I’ve been building, expanding, and growing in this business. My dream is to hit the 50-year mark.

What did you want to be when you “grew up”?

When I grow up, I want to have the ability to make a difference and to impact people’s lives. I want to have control of my own destiny.

What do you like most about working with the National Life Group?

I love the culture and the openness here and am proud to be part of this family.

The open architecture platform allows us the make the most suitable recommendations to our clients.

Has the industry landscape changed during your career? What have you seen?

The insurance industry used to be isolated and restrictive as a captive agent. Nowadays it’s more entrepreneurial, there are many business models promoting financial services.

Is there a particular woman who has inspired you in life?

My grandmom is a very special person to me.  She said, “Just do it and never give up”.

What advice would you give to young women who are just beginning their careers?

Be your own CEO. Pave your own road. Be an active learner.

What leadership quality do you most admire and aspire to?

Leadership: Vision, Integrity, and Transparency.

Do you have a cause or a favorite “Do good” passion?

I don’t really have a cause or a do-good passion, what I believe is to be kind to anyone we meet. One word or a gesture may leave a lasting impression to create a ripple effect to promote ” good” further.

At NLG, I started as an associate manager focusing on agent training and development, and today, I just completed my first year as a Managing Director.

What attracted you to National Life and what would you tell someone considering doing business with us?

The living benefits and the open architecture platform attracted me here.

We are not only an innovator in this industry with our plan designs, but National Life is also a company with a “heart”. We care. We do good, be good, and make good.

Any other words of wisdom you’d like to share?

I always remind myself to “Be kind. Be brave. Be curious. Make everyday count.”

Living benefits are provided by riders, which are supplemental benefits that can be added to a life insurance policy and are not suitable unless you also have a need for life insurance. Riders are optional, may require additional premium and may not be available in all states or on all products. This is not a solicitation of any specific insurance policy.
